A Cooler Kind of Chukka: Polo at My-Wardrobe

Style : It might not seem like it, but the Polo season is only months away and it seems e-retailer My-Wardrobe.com has fully embraced the Sport of Kings.

The preppy trend is a key look for spring/summer 2010, though forget about the American brands Abercrombie and Fitch and Tommy Hilfiger by embracing something a little more British. My-Wardrobe has a great selection of polo shirts 'new in' accompanied with a smattering of blazers, shoes and other fresh accessories.

Starting at the bottom, Belstaff, the rugged outerwear brand, has this pair of brown boots that would not look out of place stomping the divots at Cirencester. They have a perforated detail and a raised heal, but not too much that it's noticeable.

However, a more relaxed option is the deck-shoe - a staple item for the season - and this Sperry Topsiders red suede pair is a colourful and pefect option to be teamed with the jeans below.

Acne is one of my favourite denim brands, and their bleach max downtown slim jeans are a great colour pallet to wear with almost anything, and the stitch detailing gives it an extra edge that won't go unnoticed.

For polo shirts, don't just stick to plain black or white, go for something with some embellishment or detail such as emblems or pockets. Ralph Lauren has a great selection of authentically inspired polo shirts though whilst he is an American label, Lauren took British style to the States and then sold it back to us. Cheeky...

For something simple but with a twist, McQ by McQueen has stepped in to give us a great burst of colour with some slim mesh polo's with tipped detail or go for Farah Vintage's grey herringbone knit cotton. For the more traditionalist in you, Fred Perry is your first and last stop, with a white polo that's style will never go out of fashion.

Lastly, the blazer is not only a key item for the summer but also for the polo look, with Burberry and McQ by McQueen providing the best options for a smart yet relaxed look.

Now all you need is a date, a hamper stuffed with champagne and a few horses, but watch out for the steaming divots. And if you have seen Pretty Woman, you will know what I mean.
