ESPA x The Corinthia, London

Style :

Saturday, amidst the troubling riots and social unrest in London, I was a guest of ESPA at their newest spa at The Corinthia, Whitehall Place, London, SW1A. The hotel is a stunning 5 star venue that opened three months ago, whilst the ESPA spa opened on Friday and is a sumptuous, marble clad 5 star experience also - as well as the biggest hotel spa in London.

Upon entering the Mezzanine floor, down some gleaming white corridors, you are greeted with this incredible white reception that features a wall brimming with ESPA products. I was given a refreshing glass of spring water whilst I filled in the necessary documents for my Bamboo Stretch therapy and massage.

The concept of the spa is that light welcomes guests to the spa, which slowly descends into rich and opulent darkness, which I saw on my tour as you go from this stark, opal white to strong ebony. With curved walls and soft contours enhancing the energy of the spa, this creates individual pods and cocooning spaces of peace, to read in or just kick back and enjoy the mesmerising warmth of the ambient fireplace behind this pool below and the atmospheric mood lighting. There is an amazing light sculpture which, when reflected in the sparking floor, reminisces of a starry constellation. The sophisticated use of Calacatta and black Italian marble, rich black and champagne lacquer panels, stained dark oak, textured leather, polished chrome and pewter art work creates a spa which is elegant yet contemporary, innovative yet sumptuous; sheer 5 star luxury.

I first had a foot wash ritual and then was scrubbed using sea salt which was incredibly invigorating. Followed by a facial cleanse and the hands-on and heated bamboo massage, which eventually untied all the knots in my shoulders and back, this was completed with a head massage. It was divine and I can not thank ESPA enough for such a sumptuous afternoon.

But this level of treatment is not surprising from ESPA who are the world’s leading total spa company building award-winning spas in five continents across the globe. Years of experience covering strategy, operational, conceptual and development elements of spas combined with an in-depth knowledge of differing cultures, products and treatments, have resulted in a company which is well rounded and genuinely committed to inspired natural products, treatments and continual spa development. Being rrecognised as leaders in spa, ESPA consistently remains at the cutting edge of the Spa Industry, continuously adding to its worldwide accolades.

The spa is open to everyone for £95 for three hours, excluding treatments.
