Year Zero

Style :

Year Zero is undoubedly one of the hottest, fashion forward and avent garde brands in London. Owned by the Mazilli family who previously owned Voyage, the uber exclusive boutique on the Kings Road,  their Beak Street store in the heat of Soho offers a one-stop shop for one of the most individual, vivacious and visionary looks.

I have been wearing the brand for some years now, particularly when I was co-running Circus, with my most obvious piece being a pair of shorts bolded with individual transfers of flags, cartoon characters, historical figure and then topped off with 3,000 Swarovski crystals.

If your looking for everything from casual street ware to that an essential evening piece to really kick off your style with a bang, Year Zero has pieces that will be an absolute double-look impact garment. Their unique brand and style is custom fitted to your personal needs weather it be a one off shirt or dress to whole wardrobes with matching custom bags.

One area that Rocky, one of the owners, specialises in is custom designing vintage and new bags, such as this Louis Vuitton roller-case and Hermes HAC (the original Birkin).  Approached by current owners to spice up their run-of-the-mill pieces as well as by labels and brands such as Thomas Sabo, Goyard, Gucci and many other luxury brands. Even though the HAC was filled to bulk it out for display, it was really, really heavy which was utterly unexpected not only just because of the paint, but because of the sheer size of it.

Every garment in the shop is hand made in London, priding themselves on original, unique and retro designs. Year Zero has a huge Celebrity fan following with clients like Juliette Lewis, Pink, Mika, The GOSSIP, Christina Aguilera, Lulu, Sultan of Bruni, Flavio Briatore, David & Victoria Beckham, Madonna, Paris Hilton and Beyonce just to mention a few...

Oh, that bag is in the thousands, not hundreds of pounds. I offered Rocky a few quid, but he said something that is quite unrepeatable. It's very tempting to sell an organ for it, but I could barely lift it above my waist. Shame.
