Topman Design x London Fashion Week Menswear Day

Style :

Hosted in the stunning Royal Oprah House in London's Covent Garden, the Topman Design show was an accentuation of their current mainstream offerings worldwide. Rather than pushing the boundaries of the seasons trends, they stuck much to the script but with a flower power feel. Think Topman on acid (in a very legal way, of course) and that's what we got.

The main essence of the collection was tailoring, a strong factor once again for this season. Single and double breasted tailoring was paired with high waisted Grecian shorts with pleats. Whilst the look was high performance mods, there was a 1960s feel with floral designs and acid tones, as well as the odd fox and Nordic motifs emblazoned on bright jacquard knits.

Though one of the hottest pieces was the crumpled finished trench coat in violet as well as the crumpled array of parka's. They will no doubt fly out of the collection, as will the black leather monkey boots and the canvas high-tops which year after year continue to be a staple item in most guys wardrobes. In terms of accessories, the hardware belt may not take off as quickly, although it's a great progression from last seasons bum-bag. Yet the best piece was the canvas utility holdalls covered in pins and badges.
