LA Diary: Stephen Dorff at the Louis Vuitton x Somewhere

Style :

Stephen Dorff is one of my favorite actors, staring in one of the best films of the 1990s, I Shot Andy Warhol as well as the excellent Blade and Felon. Usually a bit of a bad boy, Dorff looks the ultimate gentleman, wearing Louis Vuitton, here at the premier party of Somewhere, hosted by Louis Vuitton in West Hollywood earlier this week.

The event was held at Chateau Marmont which in the film plays the central role in documenting the wild and outrageous behavior in the hotel by anybody who was anyone over its history. Situated on Sunset Boulevard, the imposing hotel was bought by Andres Balaz in 1990 in a state of disrepair after it was used as apartments since 1929.

Dorff maintains his bad boy image in the film as a Hollywood guy of excess, stumbling through life of over-indulgence at the hotel, when his 11 year old daughter visits. This comes somewhat as an epiphany and the road then followed is played out in the film.

Used as a backdrop for many a photoshoot by Mario Testino, below, and stayed in by Benicio Del Toro - who also has a cameo in the film - below also, the hotel has seen screen legends such as Jim Morrison (who used 'eight of his nine lives' falling from a drainpipe), James Dean (who jumped through a window to audition for Rebel Without a Cause) and Helmut Newton (who died in the hotels parking lot after crashing his car).

The film, Somwhere, is due to release on December 22nd in selected cinema's but it is unknown if the film will release in the UK.
