Wednesday Wallpaper- Top 10 for Boys and Girls

Style : Kid's wallpaper does not have to be limited to TV characters, super heroes or nursery rhymes.  My favourite papers for kids are actually not designed for kids at all.  Here are my top 10 picks for girls and boys.

Ladies first.

This is perhaps one of the most divine papers I have ever seen. I seriously need at least a piece of it somewhere in my home.  It is by Claire Coles- very pricey but VERY worth it!
Soda by Amy( by Amy Carolyn Allison)-  Lovebird.  I love all of the colourways but think the black and white sketch is particularly special- the kissing birds and bird baths- swoon!
Timorous Beasties- McGegan Rose. Definitely not a prissy floral- I love the white flowers set against punchy lavender background.
Schumacher - Birds and Butterflies.  This is one of my favourite wallpapers for use anywhere in the home (it very nearly became my choice for my foyer wall but it was over budget due to the large repeat- very disappointing!)  In any event,  I love the black branches and how the birds are coloured in such quirky shades- someone I know said they were like Harry Potter colours and I think that sums it up perfectly.  I adore this for a tomboyish girl with lots of spunk.

Louise Body- Pavillion Birds.  How gorgeous is this? I love how the birds, branches and butterflies all appear hand drawn- it looks like a piece of original art.  This is the kind of paper that would make great framed panels, if papering the whole wall or room was not an option.
Osborne and Little- Tamara.  I fell in love with this one when I saw it in another colourway on the walls of Miette confiserie- totally charming (the colourway shown in the store is actually my favourite but I couldn't find a great shot of it.)

Nina Campbell- Perroquet.  After much consideration, this is the one I have selected for my daughter Scarlett's room- I love how it reminds me of a Paris cafe or a flower shop in Belgium- just so pretty.
And now let's hear it for the boys.

Graham and Brown- Eco Highway.  I love how it reminds me of the Jetsons- it's kind of quirky and weird, which I like.

Lizzie Allan- London.  How completely charming is this one?  I would use the lime green and blue as accent colours- with some touches of black in the form of geometric rug- I can never have enough black/white geometric rugs!

Blocks- Soda by Amy Designs.  If you have a boy, you know as I do, how much they adore building/destroying blocks of towers. I see this wallpaper and I think of my little sweet terror boy:)
Cath Kidston- Cowboy- LOVE!!!  It has such vintage/retro appeal and also comes in fabric so the possibilities are endless.  I would love to see it with a large brown houndstooth- on antique french bergere or wing chairs.

Josef Frank- Paradise. JF does not require a caption.

Fine Little Day- Ahoy.  This one is my absolute favourite for a boy and can you believe it was designed by an 8 year old!!!  If I could afford it, this one would plaster every wall in my son's room.

Emily Cox- Busy Town.  I actually like this one more in the white colourway but for some reason when you save the picture, it switches the background and foreground to make the whole thing look black.  In any event, I think it is very quirky and could work well for a boy of all ages.

Julia Rothman- Nethercote.  I like the black and white graphic nature of this one and the schoolhouses and the deer:)

Aimee Wilder- Animals.  This one looks like something any child would want- it graphic and cool.

Julia Rothman - Daydream.  So magical in every colourway
I had to add these interactive papers, which would be perfect for a playroom.

Boudie and Foo- Tick Tock.  How adorably fun is this?

Graham and Brown- Frames.  I love that children could colour in the frames or add their artwork inside; the paper would work so well as the backdrop for a large art display wall.

And finally, here are some inspiration shots of kid's rooms where wallpaper is used VERY well- these can speak for themselves.
